Housing Choice Voucher Program

The Housing Choice Voucher Program is the federal government’s  program for assisting very low-income families, the elderly, and the disabled to afford decent, safe, and sanitary housing in the private market.
The participating family pays the landlord 30% of the total gross household income with adjustments for medical expenses and childcare.
A housing subsidy is paid directly to the landlord by Greenwich Communities on behalf of tenant for the remaining portion of the rent charged.

PORTABILITY REQUESTS

Existing Voucher Holders from other agencies wishing to transfer their subsidy into Greenwich, CT must provide this information to their Initial Housing Authority.

Existing Voucher Holders from Greenwich Communities wishing to transfer their subsidy out to another jurisdiction must review and follow the attached instructions.

Pay close attention to the payment standards in the jurisdiction you wish to move to.

Voucher Holders seeking to change their unit will need to complete the following forms with the assistance of the potential new landlord and their current landlord.
